Paul Smith appointed as artistic director! Picasso memorial exhibition showcases the collection with a fresh new visual display.

Pablo Picasso can be considered one of the most famous and influential artists of the 20th century, holding an unparalleled position in the history of modern art. In celebration of its 50th anniversary, the Musée National Picasso in Paris has specially invited British designer Sir Paul Smith to serve as artistic director, leading a team to present the museum’s collection in a unique and innovative way.

British designer Paul Smith, known as the “fashion mischievous boy,” has always been known for his colorful and geometric designs, always exuding a sense of “humor.” This time, as the artistic director, he leads the public to view the works from a contemporary perspective through unique interpretation techniques, emphasizing the extraordinary significance of Picasso’s works in the modern world. These two artists sometimes have a coinciding vision, such as their love for objects and clothing, and their shared mischievousness, which leads to a comparison and extends into a spectacular and innovative way of presenting their works.

In addition to Picasso, this exhibition also showcases works by contemporary international artists, including Guillermo Kuitca, Obi Okigbo, Mickalene Thomas, and Chéri Samba. They offer new interpretations of Picasso’s works and incorporate their own personal inclinations into some of his artistic creations. The exhibition will be held from March 7th to August 27th. If you are planning to visit Paris, consider adding it to your itinerary.
