Who has such influence that 200 creators around the world celebrate his 200th birthday? It’s about Mr. Louis Vuitton, the founder of LV. Born on August 4, 1821, this year marks his 200th birthday. The brand is holding the “Louis 200” event globally to review his creativity and craftsmanship, paying tribute to this innovative pioneer and dreamer.
When it comes to classic designs of the brand, the first choice must be the flat-top suitcase. The 200 invited creators all used a 50 x 50 x 100 cm box as the starting point for their creations, a size similar to the original luggage trunk designed by Louis Vuitton in the 1850s. They were free to unleash their creativity, choose any medium, creatively deconstruct, transform, process, project, or reinterpret the box, presenting works full of personal characteristics.
Don’t assume that creators must be artists or fashionistas. In fact, the characteristics, nationalities, and identities of the 200 creators vary, including painters, skateboarders, writers, curators, dancers, musicians, architects, botanists, poets and activists, aerospace engineers, tapestry artists, directors, astrologers, stylists, astronauts, glove makers, Paralympic swimmers, tenors, and drag queens, among others. Their diverse backgrounds also symbolize the concept of the project.
Representatives from Hong Kong include: famous actress Linda Lin and sound artist Liu Xiaojiang, who respectively pay tribute to the brand’s 200th anniversary through ceramics and sound recordings.
In addition, the brand has also launched its first mobile game called “Louis: The Game”, which is based on the life of Mr. Louis Vuitton, allowing players to deepen their understanding of the brand’s story. This mobile game is now available for download on the App Store and Google Play.
