Since creative director Walter Chiapponi took office in 2019, he has been injecting many new style elements into TOD’S. Recently, the brand has released the Graffiti graffiti series with a playful and humorous street art interpretation of many classic items, bringing surprises to fashion enthusiasts once again!
The works of famous graffiti masters such as Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat are the source of inspiration for the TOD’S Graffiti series, and the design concepts or aesthetics of a series of fashion items are echoed by a free, flexible and ever-changing creative style of graffiti art.
The TOD’S Graffiti series decorates fashion items such as Gommino loafers, leather sneakers, and T Timeless handbags with images designed by Walter Chiapponi, as well as handwritten texts like “Dream,” “Amor,” and “In Love We Trust,” in stylish black or vibrant peach colors, making a bold yet positive statement, while also paying tribute to graffiti art through the brand’s craftsmanship.
A series of designs are not lacking in fashion details, such as the popular bag T Timeless, which not only has a body full of graffiti, but also has graffiti-style “TOD’S” brand letters and numbers on the shoulder strap. This detachable shoulder strap can also be used as a belt, making the bag a delicate and compact waist bag, bringing more fashionable ways to wear it!
As for the classic Gommino loafers, under the interpretation of Graffiti, they have also become a fashion focus. The word “LIFE” is added to the sole, and numbers are printed on both sides of the leather sneakers’ lace loops, adding more playful details to the design!
