Following the spring/summer collection in collaboration with JW ANDERSON, UNIQLO has launched another collaboration series, this time with the Finnish fashion design brand Marimekko, introducing a limited edition collaboration collection themed around joyful midsummer!
The new collaboration series draws inspiration from the traditional midsummer and bright summer sun of Northern Europe, incorporating Marimekko’s colorful and playful floral patterns into the design, while blending Nordic style with UNIQLO’s minimalist design, showcasing the joyful atmosphere and vitality of midsummer.
7 eye-catching floral patterns from Marimekko are created by 4 designers, with a focus on the designs by Japanese designer Fujiwo Ishimoto. Between 1974 and 2006, he designed 400 floral patterns for Marimekko, and this collection features 3 of his works showcasing the natural landscapes of Finland, including Seitsemän kukkaa inspired by the Finnish midsummer flower-picking tradition, the vibrant Talkoot print, and the Pikkulempi floral pattern. Another designer, Annika Rimala, brings lively striped patterns like Aitanovi and Aita, adding more fashion fun.
The series brings a variety of denim items, such as loose denim V-neck shirts, printed denim maxi skirts, as well as eye-catching wide-brim hats, shoulder bags, canvas sandals, and other accessories and footwear, creating a summer fashion look.
The UNIQLO x Marimekko limited edition collaboration series will be available for purchase at all UNIQLO stores and online flagship stores on May 21st. If you are interested in getting your hands on it, keep an eye out.
