Marriage is a major event in life, and prospective grooms and brides always have high expectations for the details of their engagement and wedding. Earlier, a online wedding survey commissioned by the De Beers Group and conducted by Nielsen IQ showed that the intimate “proposal” moment and an engagement ring with natural diamonds are still the primary considerations for grooms and brides.
The subjects of this online wedding survey are the young generation in Hong Kong. The respondents are between the ages of 18 and 44. The survey interviewed 482 men and women, of which 80% hope to have a natural diamond set in their engagement ring. 82% consider the engagement ring to be an important part of wedding preparations. Two-thirds of the respondents will gather information online to find their ideal engagement ring. Additionally, 94% will choose to purchase from a local jewelry store.
As for the selection of engagement rings, 80% of respondents prefer natural diamonds, and 86% express a desire to personally participate in the selection process. The main factors considered include the traditional diamond 4C standards, namely color, clarity, carat, and cut, as well as whether the diamond is natural, which is highly important to the majority of respondents (80%). Additionally, 39% of respondents require a certificate for the diamond, while 21% emphasize the diamond’s origin.
