The most precious Easter egg in the world? Together at the MGM x Fabergé flagship store in the Asia-Pacific region, enjoy the “Game of Thrones” collaboration series.

Easter is coming! Easter is one of the important holidays in the Western and even Eastern cultures, and eggs are a tradition of Easter. Eggs usually contain surprises, so the term “彩蛋” now also represents interesting details that can be overlooked if not carefully searched for, such as Easter eggs in movies or games.

In the world of jewelry history, there is also a series of Easter eggs full of legendary colors. These eggs were designed and made by Russian jeweler Peter Karl Fabergé for Russian Tsar Alexander III and his son Nicholas II between 1885 and 1917. They are known as Fabergé eggs. These eggs are extremely luxurious, rare in quantity, and are a witness to history, hence their priceless value. In recent years, the few that have appeared in the auction market have been priced at over tens of millions of dollars.

Recently, MGM Cotai and Fabergé collaborated on a new retail concept and jointly held the first high-end jewelry exhibition “Colorful New Era” to celebrate the opening of the brand’s first flagship store in the Asia-Pacific region at MGM Cotai. MGM Cotai, known as the “jewelry box” of Cotai, joined hands with the globally renowned art jewelry brand Fabergé to bring an unparalleled jewelry experience to Macau, attracting a crowd of jewelry enthusiasts to come and observe.

At this high-end jewelry exhibition, MGM and Fabergé presented extraordinary custom artworks, the Fabergé x “Game of Thrones” collaboration egg, priced at $2.2 million in 2021. In addition, they also brought the latest limited edition high-end jewelry from the same series, created in collaboration with brand chief designer Liisa Tallgren, creative director Josina von dem BusscheKessell, and Emmy® and BAFTA® award-winning costume designer Michele Clapton from the “Game of Thrones” production team. The shape of this custom egg simulates the dragon eggs of “Mother of Dragons” Daenerys, with irregular “dragon scales” spiraling upwards, wrapping the egg, symbolizing the flames spewed by the dragons. This 18K white gold piece is handmade. The skilled craftsmen carefully painted exclusive enamel colors on each “dragon scale”, with the violet, red, blue, and gray colors of the enamel taken from Daenerys’ costumes in the series. The egg is also adorned with diamonds and moonstones.

A 18K white gold “dragon tail” is perched on the base of the egg, adorned with diamonds. This design also echoes the jewelry worn by Daenerys in various episodes of Game of Thrones. In order to stay true to the brand’s spirit, this egg also hides many surprises. This legendary piece can be opened from three directions, representing the three “dragon children” Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion in the series. When opened, a layer of “dragon bones” as stunning and beautiful as the exterior can be seen. The flame-shaped dragon bones are intricately set with deep red rubies from Gemfields. The “dragon bones” are supported by a framework made of rhodium-plated white gold. Only after opening this layer of “dragon bones” formed by the three dragons can the ultimate surprise of the artwork be revealed: a miniature crown sitting on a dazzling crystal base.

In addition, the exhibition also showcases over 20 pieces from the exclusive collection of Fabergé fine jewelry, each piece bringing unique inspiration and possessing an iconic style, interpreting the brand’s craftsmanship and bold innovative technical attempts. In 2020, Fabergé signed a contract with Chinese designer James Ganh, appointing him as the brand’s first Featured Designer in history. These exquisitely crafted masterpieces present a strong sense of modernity and represent Fabergé’s renowned genius creativity and impeccable technique, leaving a lasting impression.
