The Cannes Film Festival is always one of the most anticipated events of the year, and this year is no exception. Celebrities dazzle in glamorous outfits as they attend premieres and witness the birth of various awards. Amidst the star-studded event and the fragrance of perfume, actors not only wear Chopard’s sparkling jewelry on the red carpet but also receive the prestigious Palme d’Or award at the ceremony, expressing extraordinary craftsmanship in support of the film industry.

This year’s Cannes Film Festival “Palme d’Or” was won by the film “Titane” directed by French director Julia Ducournau, making her the first female director to win this prestigious award in Cannes history. The short film “All the Crows in the World” directed by Hong Kong director Tang Yi won the Best Short Film Palme d’Or, marking the first Hong Kong work to receive this honor, with the trophy also designed and manufactured by Chopard.

Actually, as early as 1998, Chopard was responsible for making the Palme d’Or trophy, as well as handling all the awards presented at the closing ceremony of the film festival. The Palme d’Or trophy was redesigned at that time by the brand’s Co-President and Artistic Director, Caroline Scheufele, and since then the brand has begun a long-term collaboration with the Cannes Film Festival, becoming a sponsor of the Cannes Film Festival.

In addition to the Palme d’Or, awards such as Best Actress, Best Actor, Jury Prize, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Short Film Palme d’Or, and Golden Camera are all made by the Chopard high jewelry workshop in Geneva. Caroline Scheufele, who loves the art of cinema, is also the founder of the Chopard Trophy, which has been awarded to emerging actors during the Cannes Film Festival every year since 2001, with Audrey Tautou, Léa Seydoux, Anne Taylor-Joy, and Diane Kruger having won this honor.

For over 20 years, the coveted Golden Palm Award in the film industry has continuously bestowed the highest honor and recognition on many classic film works, representing the passion and achievements of actors and filmmakers in the art of cinema. The Golden Palm Award produced by Chopard is a pure hand-carved jewelry made up of 19 gold leaves, arranged on a stem and placed on a unique crystal base, showcasing the brand’s design aesthetics. The heart-shaped base gives the award a second life, symbolically representing the brand and cleverly corresponding to Chopard’s logo.

In addition, Chopard’s high jewelry workshop takes 40 hours to make each Palme d’Or trophy, with the participation of 5 specialized craftsmen, showcasing the same craftsmanship as the brand’s jewelry production. It is worth mentioning that Chopard launched a journey towards sustainable luxury industry in 2013, and has been using ethically certified “Fairmined” gold materials to make the Palme d’Or trophy since 2014, supporting the film event while adhering to sustainable principles, adding more meaning to the annual Cannes Film Festival.
