When it comes to top female stars in the Korean entertainment industry, Ha Ji-won is definitely one that cannot be overlooked. Holding the titles of both box office queen and TV ratings queen, Ha Ji-won has achieved great success over the years with popular dramas such as “Hwang Jini,” “Secret Garden,” and “Empress Ki,” showcasing her undeniable talent in acting. She is even referred to as a “chameleon” by the Korean media, meaning that she can handle any role she takes on and has a highly versatile image. However, Ha Ji-won’s outstanding performance goes beyond her career in the entertainment industry. Recently, she has even ventured into the art world, surprising everyone with her first solo art exhibition since entering the industry, proving that she is truly a multi-talented goddess!

“Closing Act: To Stand and Die”

When she was only 24 years old, Ha Ji-won became familiar to people with her bold performance in “Sex Is Zero”. Later, she took on different roles in various works, whether it was a villain, a fighter, a pure-hearted girl, a gold digger, or a geisha, she successfully brought these characters to life. Last year, she once again brought a new drama called “Curtain Call: The Tree Stands and Dies”, in which she played two roles, the female lead Park Shi-yeon, and the young version of Park Shi-yeon’s grandmother. Her delicate acting skills spanning almost half a century once again captivated people under her charm.

In addition to acting, Ha Ji-won is also well-known in the industry as a philanthropist. In 2008, she held a charity auction of her own collection and donated all the proceeds to help impoverished families. In 2013, Ha Ji-won participated in a book donation event organized by the Korean YMCA and donated ten thousand books to local underprivileged youth. The most widely discussed act of her philanthropy was in 2014 when she donated a total of 100 million Korean won to the families of the victims of the Korean ferry “Sewol.” According to unofficial statistics, Ha Ji-won has donated over 200 million Korean won to charity over the past decade. It is rare to find a celebrity with such a kind heart, which is why she has gained a lot of love and support from the audience over the years. Despite being in the complex entertainment industry, her image has always remained positive.

Han Ji-won once expressed that she entered the entertainment industry because she wanted to express herself. Later on, she became more eager to understand the world and began to contemplate what she could contribute to create a beautiful world. Eight years ago, she, who has always connected acting with charity, started to dabble in painting. In the busy schedule of an actress, there are times when she may only have a little time to paint in the car. However, this short process brings her immense satisfaction.

From interests to habits, Ha Ji-won has started to devote more time to art creation. Last year, she even exhibited three works called “Super Cow” at the Seoul Art Exhibition Year of the Ox Special Exhibition and successfully sold them. After silently working towards it, she finally brings her first personal art exhibition of her life this year, titled “NSTANT: The beginning of relationship.” The exhibition showcases the changes in interpersonal relationships in the digitalized world, and Ha Ji-won presents a series of vibrant and lively abstract portraits that are truly eye-catching.
