Thom Browne’s first haute couture fashion show made its debut at the Paris Opera House, with 2,000 “2D” audience members dressed in the brand’s iconic styles, becoming the guests of the fashion show to celebrate its significant 20th anniversary milestone. In addition to the 58 stunning haute couture outfits, the dramatic makeup was equally captivating, bringing a visually stunning impact!
In this series, Thom Browne further blurs the line between genders, which is inherently ambiguous, much like the gray area between black and white. The brand’s classic color tone of gray runs throughout the entire collection. Utilizing suit jackets and platform high heels to create a neutral atmosphere, the collection combines elements such as wool, herringbone, stripes, organza, lace, and beads, breaking down gender boundaries.
The brand’s makeup this time is personally created by the well-known British makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench, who has always pursued an innovative, surreal, and avant-garde creative style. This time, she has created three dramatic makeup looks for Thom Browne’s models, bringing playful and whimsical styles.
A gray striped bell-shaped hat with a unique brand style, paired with gold reflective sunglasses on the hat, making the irregular gold lip makeup the focal point of the entire look, showcasing a carefree and casual atmosphere, making the makeup appear bolder.

Continuing the clean and natural makeup trend with light eyebrows, some models at the Thom Browne show appeared with almost bare-faced natural makeup. They used a lightweight foundation to maintain a natural skin tone, while their eyebrows were bleached to a platinum color. They then highlighted their cheekbones and the bridge of their nose to enhance their facial features, matching the style of the clothing. They paired this with nude lips, echoing the romantic and beautiful atmosphere of this season.
Thom Browne’s haute couture fashion show was also highlighted by the imaginative and creative makeup looks. Makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench used surreal and bold techniques to create dramatic looks. Paired with the brand’s iconic exaggerated gray wigs, it injected a bold and avant-garde feel into the formal attire, subverting conventional makeup and continuing the tradition of innovative breakthroughs.
Isamaya Ffrench first applies white makeup to the model’s face, and softens the eyebrows. Then, she cleverly uses various vibrant neon-colored pencils to create irregular black lines. The focus of the lip color is on the upper lip, creating a playful and avant-garde makeup look with a sense of humor.
