The Paris 2023 Autumn/Winter Haute Couture Fashion Show officially begins, with Schiaparelli, known for its surreal style, opening the haute couture season! Inspired by every artist, Creative Director Daniel Roseberry becomes the inspiration for this season’s collection. Daniel says, “I want to create an impossible wardrobe!” paying tribute to multiple artists. And who created the bold and avant-garde blue face and body paint on the models?
This season, Daniel Roseberry continues the founder of the brand Elsa Schiaparelli’s surrealistic and imaginative aesthetics, drawing inspiration from art to combine fashion and art, creating a series of surreal style couture, showcasing the infinite possibilities of high-end couture.
Daniel Roseberry created this collection with an organic, emotional, and casual feel, undoubtedly making Schiaparelli’s 2023 autumn/winter haute couture show a touch of surrealism injected by makeup artist extraordinaire Pat McGrath into a series of models, creating avant-garde and bold makeup looks that perfectly complement this season’s haute couture collection.

Makeup artist Pat McGrath sprayed Yves Klein’s International Klein Blue pigments on the models’ bare bodies, faces, and lips, creating a part of the fashion statement. The blue paint covered half of the models’ faces and bodies, complemented by a clean base makeup, highlighting Schiaparelli’s gold jewelry and shattered mirror collage decorations, creating a strong visual contrast and a powerful presence.
Daniel Roseberry cleverly reinterprets craftsmanship and creativity, paying tribute to artists such as Lucian Freud, Jack Whitten, Alberto Giacometti, Sarah Lucas, Joan Miró, Henri Matisse, and Claude Lalannez in his haute couture makeup.
