When it comes to eyeliner makeup, everyone immediately thinks of cat-eye liner, the seductive upward flowing lines that add infinite charm to the eyes, becoming one of the most iconic eye makeup looks over the years. However, the monopoly of cat-eye liner seems to be changing in the upcoming season, as Dior introduced a new style of makeup on the runway for the Spring/Summer 2023 collection: fish-shaped eyeliner. With innovative makeup and simple application, this may become one of the hottest makeup trends next season.
Eyeliner makeup has always been a highlight of Dior fashion shows, with brand makeup creator and image director Peter Philips always able to show creativity in eyeliner. Following the thick black eyeliner of FW20 and SS21, the split eyeliner of SS22, and the white lower eyeliner of SS22 Haute Couture, Peter has once again designed a unique eyeliner makeup for the Dior show, this time not breaking through in color, but instead varying in line.
Peter has “lightened” the thick upper and lower eyeliners on the FW20 and SS21 runways, making the makeup look more natural and everyday. However, PP’s creativity does not stop there. He focuses his creative point on the inner corner of the eyes, elongating the ends of the upper and lower eyeliners, then crossing and overlapping them, creating a novel yet slightly punk-inspired eyeliner makeup.
Peter chose to pair the Diorshow Khôl eyeliner in #099 Black Khôl with the Diorshow 24H Stylo #091 matte black eyeliner to create this creative eyeliner look. Additionally, he used the Diorshow Iconic Overcurl mascara in #090 to enhance the overall eye makeup.
