Three artist friends, Desmond Knox-Leet, Christiane Montadre-Gautrot, and Yves Coueslant, came together in Paris on Saint-Germain Boulevard, sharing a common aesthetic philosophy and a love for nature, and opened the Diptyque boutique. Two years after the flagship store was born, the three artists pioneered the creation of “scented candles” that combined decorative value with sensory experience, perfectly subverting the traditional impression that candles were only used for lighting. A pure and elegant, creatively exquisite home decoration masterpiece was thus born!
