The healing and calming effect of fragrances can mesmerize urbanites, especially incense with a richer, warmer, and longer-lasting scent. It not only releases fragrance but also creates a relaxing scene of light smoke rising with the wind, soothing the mind. Recently, a trending incense has entered the fragrance market, captivating everyone with its appearance and scent. This is the first incense series launched by Aesop!
I have to admire Aesop for launching incense products in the autumn and winter season. The warmth that the incense itself brings has already made everyone want to immediately take the new products out of the store, not to mention the brand’s loyal fans. This time, the brand has invited the long-time collaborator perfumer Barnabé Fillion to design the scents, launching a total of three incense inspired by traditional Japanese literature, namely Murasaki Incense, Dragonfly Incense, and Sarashina Incense.
The Purple Line incense blends Hinoki, Cinnamon, and Clove, emitting a rich and sweet fragrance in a woody resin scent. The Dragonfly incense features a dry woody grassy scent of Vetiver, Lemongrass, and Sandalwood, with Vetiver playing a crucial role as a common fragrance ingredient for Aesop. The Marjoram incense has a spicy aroma derived from Sandalwood and Clove.
Aesop’s three incense sticks are not only inspired by Japan, but their names also come from famous literary works from the Heian period in Japan. Even the incense sticks themselves are made by a Japanese incense studio. Each incense stick burns for about half an hour, and when paired with a specially designed bronze incense holder, the high-quality set of incense instantly captivates. The incense itself comes from Japan, while the bronze incense holder is manufactured in Germany, specially designed by the Berlin-based design firm Vogel Studio for the three incense sticks.
The solid bronze surface will oxidize over time, allowing each base to exhibit a unique luster and texture. After cleaning and polishing, the base can return to its original appearance. The German-made bronze base combined with Japanese incense creates a poetic and beautiful scene of fragrance, smoke, and ash, allowing you to focus on the present moment and relax your mind.
