Following the earlier collaboration with a local illustrator to launch fragrant candles, diptyque recently introduced the fourth chapter of its 60th-anniversary project, releasing the limited edition Le Grand Tour series. Drawing inspiration from the beloved places of the 3 brand founders who have a passion for travel and art, inviting everyone to travel the world and explore 60 years of the art of fragrance.
The limited edition Le Grand Tour series by diptyque takes Paris as the first stop of the journey, with the compass rose on the square of Notre Dame in Paris as the symbol of the “zero kilometer point” transformed into the design of the “N°01 – Paris” scented candle. The copper-green tone of the candle holder echoes the nearby old book stalls of Saint-Germain Boulevard, and the scent also evokes memories of the Seine River, antique shops, and the nostalgic atmosphere of the Paris stone streets, all paired with a black wooden carved candle lid inspired by early diptyque display candle holders, exuding the charm of Paris.
The second stop of diptyque’s “N°02 – Venise” brings a limited edition Venice Eau de Toilette set, with 3 travel-sized perfumes blending basil, green pepper, vetiver, and tomato scents inspired by Venice, Italy, capturing the vibrant vegetable garden by the Nisian countryside lake, the Mediterranean breeze, and the fresh plant scents of morning dew.
Next, we arrive at Milies at the foot of Mount Pelion in Greece, where the founder of diptyque rented a summer vacation home for 4 consecutive years. The “N°03 – Milies” indoor fragrance candle uses immortal flower essence, cypress, fig, and other scents to recreate a nostalgic atmosphere. The oval ceramic holder is decorated with blue and white coastlines and waves, along with marble pearl embellishments and white tassels, adding a touch of Greek charm to the indoor space.
The fourth stop of diptyque Le Grand Tour arrives in the art and history capital – Kyoto, Japan. “N°04 – Kyoto” perfume interprets the impressive “ikebana” with an incense, rose, and vetiver scent, corresponding to the three major elements of heaven, earth, and man in ikebana art. The packaging of this perfume adopts a traditional Japanese furoshiki design, and the cotton cloth wrapped around the perfume bottle is decorated with the classic Sarayi floral pattern.
The final stop is the ancient seaside town of Byblos. The “N°05 – Byblos” scented candle captures the aroma of cardamom coffee that fills the local market, with each candle holder made using exclusive clay pottery craftsmanship, adorned with patterns depicting the port style and intertwined alleys of the Mediterranean town market.
The Le Grand Tour limited edition series will go on sale on August 27th, so if you’re interested, why not get it.
