The minimalist style of Byredo has always been favored by literary youth, and this unique fragrance brand has recently released a new Young Rose eau de parfum, collaborating with the famous Chinese new-generation photographer Leslie Zhang Leslie Zhang to bring artistic visual images.
Byredo’s Gypsy Water Eau de Parfum is a sweet and romantic fragrance with a main note of Damask rose, complemented by the heat of Sichuan pepper and yellow kumquat seeds in the top notes, creating a layered scent. It is further enhanced by the fragrance of violet flowers, and finally balanced with musk and ambergris to echo the fresh scent of Damask rose, creating a light and elegant romantic atmosphere, while leaving a memorable floral aftertaste.
The debut rose fragrance exudes a new generation’s vibe, and Byredo’s collaboration with young artist this time stems from brand founder and creative director Ben Gorham’s trip to China. During the journey, he was deeply impressed by the local creative energy, so he brought in the talented, only 28-year-old Leslie Zhang to interpret the scent of the debut rose through visual works.
Leslie’s images have always been full of the unique beauty of China. This time, under his lens, a young couple dressed in black suits are photographed against a completely black background. The couple’s faces are adorned with makeup of roses and leaves, creating a serene and tranquil atmosphere, contrasting with their closed eyes.
In another black and white work, a young couple had written a thousand-year-old poem on their bodies, adding an ancient beauty to the scene, while their intertwined posture also conveyed enduring love and longing. The fusion of old and new artistic styles not only breaks tradition but also exudes a youthful Byredo Gypsy Water Eau de Parfum, singing an ode to youth.
