French fragrance brand diptyque celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. In addition to releasing summer fragrances inspired by the natural elements of the Mediterranean earlier, they have recently collaborated with local illustrator Mickco Chan to introduce a limited edition set of artistic scented candles.

Since its inception, diptyque has drawn inspiration from nature, with founders Yves Coueslant and Desmond Knox-Leet particularly enamored with the Mediterranean landscape. Artist Mickco Chan also incorporates nature as an element, creating 7 exclusive paintings for diptyque’s solo multimedia exhibition “ZHOU REPRISE” in mid-August, paying homage to nature.

Mickco’s creative inspiration comes from diptyque’s 6 fragrance combinations, including berries and roses, berries and mimosa, lilac and roses, figs and cypress, berries and amber, and mimosa and yuzu. Each combination has rich layers of fragrance, inspiring Mickco to depict different aromatic scenes, blending the original creative concept of “ZHOU REPRISE” to draw the joy brought by the scent with lines and shadows, and each fragrant landscape in the work represents the spiritual interaction between him and 6 important characters in his life.

Diptyque has individually imprinted Mickco’s artwork on each scented candle, releasing a total of 60 sets of scented candle sets. Each set is limited to 10 sets, and Mickco personally writes the work number and signature on each scented candle in the set. The scented candles will be sold at Diptyque’s flagship stores in Central International Finance Center and Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsui, with all proceeds going to sponsor the emerging artist project at the Hong Kong Baptist University’s Academy of Visual Arts to support local young artists.
