WOAW Gallery’s “Fluid Maze” exhibition brings together 8 Hong Kong artists, namely Chan Wai Kit, Chan Tsz Man, Cheng Hung, Hui Sai Ho, Lau Sze Man, Lee Yu Ki, Wong Ka Ying, and Ng Ka Yu. Through various mediums, they engage in an artistic experiment that questions the meaning of “observation.”
Connecting through the city, artists who live or grow up in Hong Kong embed the essence of our city in their works, leading the audience into a labyrinth of consciousness. The group exhibition “Enchanted City” will be held at the gallery’s Wan Chai space from February 6th to March 13th, 2024.
The exhibition title “淙汩” refers to the sound and appearance of flowing water. In art, people often ponder the meaning that artists try to convey through their works, attempting to find the “correct” answer. However, art, like flowing liquid, has countless answers. This exhibition explores the endless possibilities of art through different visual displays and experimental creative mediums. It specifically starts from the perspectives of eight Hong Kong artists, observing the consciousness of our generation in this city through the lens of everyday life. The artists are not only born and raised in Hong Kong, but their works also showcase the direct and indirect dialogue between Hong Kong artists and the city in different backgrounds. From portraits, organisms, and landscapes to painting, installation art, and digital videos, they tell human stories through various forms of narrative.
