Belgian surrealist painter René Magritte is skilled at using imaginative techniques to place everyday objects in his artworks, overturning people’s imagination of the real world. The pipe, apple, and bowler hat that often appear in his works are his iconic symbols. This year marks the 125th anniversary of René Magritte’s birth, and crystal brand Lalique has reinterpreted his works with transparent crystal sculptures.
In this exhibition, Lalique Art showcases 6 new pieces from the Magritte x LALIQUE collection, including “This is not a pipe,” “The Secret of the Apple,” “Bathing in a Cup,” etc. Each crystal sculpture is numbered and globally limited edition.
In addition, to complement the artistic theme, the brand also exhibits artworks created in collaboration with artists and designers from different fields. This includes the famous artwork “Still Water” by Nic Fiddian Green, a sculpture that resembles a serene horse drinking water, as well as the Fontana plate designed by Zaha Hadid (1950-2016) and reinterpreted in purple, turning art into a key element of fashionable living.
