Harbour City Art Museum brings the Flabjacks “WELCOME HOME” art exhibition, showcasing 29 acrylic paintings full of childlike and colorful charm, along with the debut of two new characters, “Dinosaur” and “Tiger”. Inside the venue, there is also a 4-meter-tall pink dinosaur wooden sculpture with a smile, serving as your guide for the journey!
Visual artist Ton Mak, born in Hong Kong and raised in different cities, considers Hong Kong as a distant homeland. After gaining international fame with her creation Flabjacks, her first solo exhibition in Hong Kong holds special significance, with the theme “WELCOME HOME.” Although “home” remains an abstract concept for her, nature brings her a sense of comfort and tranquility, a simple yet happy feeling. Inspired by the natural environment, she creates paintings with a backdrop of a dark forest and shimmering starry sky, aiming to evoke resonance with the concept of “home” through the harmony between humans and nature.
Flabjacks was born in a boring and lengthy meeting, quickly developing from casual doodles into a complete worldview, with each character having easily recognizable features – chubby bodies, round big eyes, and thick red lips. In this whimsical world, whether it’s a flower, a planet, or a mountain, all things have their unique and quirky souls.

The majority of the works in this exhibition will be publicly displayed for the first time, and the two new characters that have been added have special significance – the dinosaur is a character created by Ton during her pregnancy, while the tiger represents her son, who was born in the Year of the Tiger. The exhibition will also release a limited series of exquisite products, including art toys, canvas bags, and warm blankets.
In the new Funny Fingers series, 12 fingers dress up in different outfits, such as cacti, pickles, chili sauce, and more, living in the most peculiar and strange way, and waiting to make friends with everyone. Ton has held over 15 Flabjacks exhibitions in major cities, including Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, Manila, and more. Ton has also collaborated with international renowned brands such as Nike, Swatch, Pop Mart, Apple, Gucci, and others, allowing chubby and cute friends to bring positive energy to corners of the world.
