Gallery Ascend brings the solo exhibition of up-and-coming Japanese artist Maiko Kobayashi, titled “A Place of Wandering Hearts.” When it comes to Kobayashi’s creations, they are inseparable from her whimsical self-created characters. These characters sometimes exude a sense of sadness and loneliness, while other times they display a wave of easygoing joy. These emotions are truly a reflection of the artist’s inner self, as she uses vibrant colors and soft textures to imbue feelings such as tranquility, emptiness, fear, and happiness into these seemingly harmless creatures, making people yearn to get closer. This exhibition presents a total of 11 artworks, extending the artist’s personal emotions while showcasing her vast and pure universe within.

“The Sun is Out”: Xin Xiya Polsky Solo Exhibition at PearlLam Galleries

The Art Gate presents for the first time the solo exhibition “The Sun is Out” by New York artist Cynthia Polsky (born in 1939). The series of large-scale paintings and works on paper on display were created between 1963 and 1974, reflecting the artist’s interest in Asian spirituality, aesthetics, and tradition. Despite the rise of conceptual art movement at the time, Polsky, as a female artist, carved out her own unique creative direction outside of the dominant narrative of post-war American art. The exhibition presents the artworks in a cinematic manner, with each scene unfolding like a film, and the gallery space taking on the role of a theatrical stage, creating a dialogue between the composition of the paintings and the movement of the viewers’ bodies.

Time: 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM (Closed on Sundays)
