Italian art organization Cracking Art has been creating vibrant giant animal sculptures using raw materials for many years, cleverly integrating their works with urban architecture and leaving their mark around the world. This time, Cracking Art will surprise Hong Kong with their first exhibition “Animal Invasion,” adding 90 eye-catching and adorable animal sculptures to Harbour City.
“Cracking Art” originates from the English verb “to crack,” expressing a state of splitting, cracking, and collision. The six artists of Cracking Art transform recyclable plastic into works of art, showcasing them in public environments and engaging with everyone.
Through public art, we raise awareness of the serious relationship between nature and artificial plastic. Over the years, our organization has visited over 300 city landmarks around the world, including Central Park in New York, the Duomo in Milan, and the Four Seasons Hotel in Florence. Each time a new artwork is created, it sparks a wave of social media check-ins.
Rarely does Cracking Art make its first appearance in Hong Kong. 19 giant adorable rabbits have already arrived at the open-air plaza of the Ocean Terminal to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit with everyone. Unlike typical art installations, the artists encourage people to touch the artwork, even ride on the rabbits and take interesting photos.
And the other 7 species, including elephants, penguins, puppies, kittens, turtles, bears, and crocodiles, will officially debut at different locations in Harbour City on January 31st. In line with the organization’s environmental concept, after the event, all exhibits will be recycled and continue to be displayed in other cities. You may want to visit Harbour City and search for the traces of these animals together!
