Jiang Miaoxiang’s first exhibition in Hong Kong landed at the Baishi Gallery! Works sculpting Eastern mythical beasts, colorful whirlpools displaying auspicious symbols.

Chinese artist Jiang Miao’s creations are not limited to square canvases, but through diverse works such as oil paintings, prints, and knife carvings, reveal his exploration of life philosophy. Jiang Miao’s works have also appeared in various group exhibitions at Whitestone Gallery. This time, the gallery is showcasing the artist’s solo exhibition “Rui Ri” for the first time, continuing to bring the audience a series of paintings with Zen-like and unique craftsmanship.

Jiang Miao has been studying traditional Chinese philosophical views since childhood. Through the creative process, she explores the invisible and mysterious cosmic forces, hoping to admire the truth of life. Her sculptural works contain dozens of layers of colors, all of which are the artist’s interpretation of the life’s radiance and colors felt in the moment of creation. Through carving wrinkles and carefully arranged compositions, she reveals the natural energy of layer by layer refinement, bringing forth beautiful life whirlpools one by one.

Jiang Miao’s various series of works are like separate entities, yet they seem to be sacred landscapes of different levels in the same universe. The “Origin” series depicts the prototypes of all things, and through this, all things undergo countless cycles of regeneration, much like the reincarnation of life, symbolizing the repeated rebirth of life. Jiang Miao invites the audience to use their self-awareness to imagine a complete form for this series of works.

“The Auspicious”, can be interpreted as auspiciousness, auspicious beasts, and jade artifacts used in ancient sacrificial rituals. The paintings connect various symbols representing Eastern culture, such as the image of spiritual beasts in the painting, embodying the totem of the dragon in Eastern wisdom. The artist’s work displays a solemn atmosphere, engraved with ancient wisdom and thoughts, while also exuding a sense of tranquility, bringing viewers peace and blessings.
