Reviewing Hong Kong’s notable architectural and design projects over the years, the “25 Years of Design” special exhibition brings together a wealth of local design achievements!

Hong Kong, despite its limited space, has been one of the world’s popular tourist cities over the years through its exquisite urban architectural design. Whether historical or modern architecture, they have created a unique skyline for the city. To celebrate Hong Kong’s outstanding design achievements over the past twenty years, the “25 Years of Design” special exhibition, organized by Designworks Foundation and curated by its founder Winnie Yue, will be held in late August, featuring large-scale installations, diverse displays, and a series of exciting content.

The exhibition covers a total of ten exhibition areas, with selected booths including the Design Gallery, showcasing a series of influential public projects in the fields of transportation, healthcare, education, housing, heritage conservation, culture, and recreation. Projects include the Hong Kong International Airport, the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, the Hong Kong Velodrome Park, the M+ Museum, “Green in the Community” in Wan Chai, and the former Sham Shui Po Reservoir.

Design Library showcases a selection of works by local Hong Kong designers, including furniture, lighting, and everyday items.

As an international metropolis, Hong Kong, “Design 25 Years” collaborates with the Italian Cultural Institute in Hong Kong and the British Trade and Investment Office to present Italian design (Design Italy) and the UK Pavilion. In addition, installations around the Greater Bay Area design and Modular Integrated Construction (MIC) will also be showcased together.

In addition, the exhibition will explore aspects of Hong Kong culture, history, and cultural heritage, including the “Spirit of Lion Rock,” presenting architectural models commonly seen in 1960s and 70s Hong Kong; “Kaleidoscope: Enchanting Hong Kong” will bring visual art pieces themed around classic Hong Kong landscapes.

The exhibition showcases the most representative and creative projects in the history of Hong Kong design. You are welcome to come and appreciate it in person!
