Spanish artist Javier Calleja has been holding one solo exhibition after another recently. Following his recent exhibition “This Is Your Lucky Day” in Paris, he immediately headed to Tokyo to participate in the cat-themed exhibition “Mr. Günter, The Cat Show” curated by NANZUKA, showcasing a series of adorable sculptures and paintings featuring his own “master” at home!

Calleja has 4 cats at home, and he has even set up an IG social account for one of them named Günter Gambita @guntergambita, showing his extreme love for cats. Calleja also uses his beloved cats as creative inspiration. In his paintings, Günter is depicted as a black cat, showcasing a nimble posture and bright, expressive eyes, making the character very endearing.

In this exhibition, Günter transforms into sculptures, paintings, and adorable footprints, moving through different areas of the exhibition hall, showcasing the artist’s love for cats and life. It includes a selection of paintings and sculptures by Calleja from different periods since 2018, with two large sculptures and many paintings making their debut.

To promote the exhibition, a giant Günter sculpture was displayed outside the Shibuya PARCO shopping mall in Tokyo, attracting many people to take photos. Calleja’s dedication to cats, holding an exhibition for them, truly makes him one of the most loyal cat lovers, doesn’t it?
