The French May Arts Festival has brought countless exhibitions to art lovers in Hong Kong over the past two months. Although the program is coming to a close, the exciting exhibitions continue to be unveiled. JPS Gallery presents the first solo exhibition of French artist Julieth Mars Toussaint, “Life’s Currents,” inviting the audience to step into the artist’s most intimate emotional world.

Julieth Mars Toussaint was born in 1957 on the island of Martinique in the French overseas province. After moving to Paris in 1960, he began working in advertising and later ventured into high fashion, designing for international brands such as Paco Rabanne, Givenchy, Saint Laurent, and Montana. Julieth started painting in 1989 and has been active in the French art scene for nearly a decade, showcasing his exploration of contemporary life with abstract and bold strokes.

Living in a changing era, facing unknown uncertainties, Zhu Li injects elements such as light, color, lines, textures, and movements into his works, leading the audience to focus on their emotions and life experiences, and to feel the present moment.

During the exhibition, Julieth showcased the core values of his work, focusing on the relationship between humans and current society, as well as the detailed scenes of our daily lives. Julieth is dedicated to refining and reinterpreting his techniques and color combinations, exploring his psychological painting concepts. The artist expresses emotions not through realistic paintings, but through expressive brushstrokes and vibrant colors, revealing his inner self and emotional state to the audience.
