The scenery is tangible, but the thoughts are intangible. Abstract artists transform their thoughts and feelings about everything into non-representational images, creating the closest language to the soul. Recently, the Tianqu Contemporary Art Museum collaborated with the French May Art Festival to co-host the “Realm of the Intangible” French art exhibition, featuring abstract oil paintings by 3 artists including Marc Tanguy, Lin Minggang, and Cangyuan.
Having studied under Zao Wou-Ki, the French painter Marc Tanguy excels in creating blurred outlines of nature through bright and clear colors, short brushstrokes, and casual lines. The artist has conducted extensive experiments with color, materials, and composition, gradually moving away from the representation of objects to evoke the soul of nature and its poetic spiritual state through ethereal abstract spaces. His works exude a unique tension, overflowing with a joyful spirit in vivid color contrasts and splattered pigments.
The artistic creation method of the French artist Cangyuan explores the fusion of Eastern and Western aesthetics. In recent years, the images of his works are splashed and intertwined with passionate and vibrant colors, forming a state that is both lively and full. The new series of works focus on “consciousness,” revealing the connections between the human body, spiritual soul, desires, external experiences, moral sense, and worldview. The past distant poetic scenes have transformed into more dramatic and philosophical compositions.
Lin Minggang, who has been practicing art for many years, inherits the traditional techniques of classicism and impressionism, using the language of oil painting with a focus on light and color to construct the spirit of nature. His brushwork breaks free from the constraints of the real world, moving towards the purity of natural elegance. Like a wandering poet, the artist imbues his work with keen observations and delicate emotions, awakening in viewers an awareness of nature and a yearning for light.
The exhibition brings the intangible realm depicted by these three artists, removing the constraints of realism, allowing the works to highlight the humanistic spirit of the creators. Feel free to visit the exhibition and experience the poetic scenes depicted by each artist.
