The long-running American animated series “The Simpsons” has been popular worldwide for over 30 years, revolving around the daily lives of the Simpson family. It humorously satirizes American culture, society, TV programs, and various aspects of life, attracting countless fans over the years. In recent years, it has gained even more attention for predicting real-life events, occasionally trending on social media.
As a super loyal fan of “The Simpsons,” self-taught artist Peter Orsag (digestor) delicately recreates animated characters with his exquisite painting skills, depicting their hilarious life moments. Recently, this Dutch-based artist will bring characters Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie to Art Projects Asia gallery, inviting everyone to laugh together at life.
Peter Orsag’s work focuses on popular culture symbols, creating different scenes and scenarios through cartoon characters. This exhibition, “Pink and Yellow,” showcases the essence of Peter’s work by contextualizing cartoon characters to resonate with the audience. The artist uses minimal elements to engage the audience in a dialogue with the artwork, deliberately choosing vibrant pink as the characters’ skin color to create a strong color contrast, exuding the lively and energetic essence of animation.
Peter expresses that his works tend to reflect personal emotions, usually starting from a concept of feeling and reflecting current emotions. He chooses familiar TV characters as a medium, hoping that the audience can feel the main emotions of the work even if they are not familiar with the background story.
Feel free to visit the exhibition and explore the fun of life from the quirky family depicted by the painter.
