“Trio – Gerard Schneider, George Matthew, Pierre Suraji”

This year, K11 Musea has held a retrospective exhibition of Georges Mathieu, allowing everyone to become more familiar with the wonderful works of this lyrical abstract pioneer. Now, Season Gallery is also hosting the “Trio” exhibition on the theme of abstract lyricism, showcasing the works of 3 important lyrical abstract artists with different styles. In addition to Georges Mathieu, viewers can also see the works of Pierre Soulages and Gérard Schneider!

This exhibition showcases 10 representative works, with 3 artists originating from the same concept but each having their own style in form and emotional expression. Schneider, a romantic Confucian, boldly uses colors in his creations, with dynamic brushstrokes that exude a contemporary feel across centuries. Mathieu is actively passionate, painting like a warrior facing a battle, with each movement and stroke of determination coming from immediate intuition. Soulages possesses a quiet explosiveness, exploring light from darkness in search of eternal truth. They have laid the foundation and development direction of lyrical abstraction, definitely influencing this genre as artistic pioneers. It’s rare to be able to appreciate their paintings in the same exhibition, so everyone must not miss it!

“Scenery in this: Deng Ningzi’s New Works Exhibition”

This exhibition will showcase 29 new works by Tang Ningzi, including the “That Place” series created in 2020 and 2021. In this series, Tang Ningzi cleverly combines the creative language of Chinese and Western art, using traditional Chinese ink lines to outline the shapes of mountains and geographical contours, and then using acrylic colors to create vibrant and colorful blocks, depicting the different forms of scenery. Multiple perspectives and distant objects are combined to create a rich and uniquely composed landscape. The mountains depicted in different colored blocks are arranged in the distance to create a sense of space, allowing viewers to linger at any favorite peak in the painting, or freely roam in the vast and distant painted space, imagining and exploring their desired world.

The exhibition also includes the “Nameless Landscape” series of 10 works, all created by Deng Ningzi in 2018. This series is an experimental painting work, with abstract landscapes featuring the composition characteristics of Chinese landscape painting, while the figures on the canvas are derived from street snapshots, transformed from photographic images into paintings. These real-life figures are placed in abstract and freehand landscapes, entering a realm of emptiness and unknown, creating an interaction between the virtual and the real.

Date: From now until December 23 (Closed on Sundays)
Time: 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Location: Unit 201, 2/F, Tung Chi Building, 86-90 Wellington Street, Central, Hong Kong

Golden Ink, Boundless World – Recent Works by Li Huayi

Seasons Gallery is pleased to present “Unbounded Gold and Ink – Recent Works by Li Huayi”, showcasing 12 pieces created by Li Huayi between 2018 and 2021, demonstrating his superb skill in integrating gold foil with traditional brushwork to create dynamic and unexpected images. In addition to gold foil, the artist’s use of materials extends to silver foil, casting a moonlight-like glow on the paintings, brimming with the poetic romance unique to traditional Chinese literati.

Li Huayi’s works blend contemporary artistic concepts and techniques, but his overall artistic philosophy has always carried the core spirit of traditional Chinese literati painting. Traditional Chinese literati painting is not about depicting the appearance of the objective world, but showcasing the temperament of the painter himself, including his knowledge, beliefs, and cultural taste, summarizing his cultivation and personal character. The image of pine trees in the gold foil series is a typical example, their forms are filled with elegance and nobility, carefully arranged in a golden endless void that suggests eternity. Feel free to visit the exhibition and uncover a glimpse of Li Huayi’s ideal world.

Date: From now until December 12 (Closed on Sundays)
Time: 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM
