An art exhibition that makes your mouth water, Japanese artist Maomomiji paints Japanese food illustrations that will make you hungry as you look at them!

Have you missed traditional Japanese cuisine since you haven’t been to Japan for a long time? Now we can reminisce about these delicacies through the food illustrations drawn by popular Japanese food artist Maomomiji! Harbour City ‧ Art Gallery is currently presenting Maomomiji’s first overseas exhibition “Oishii Every Day”, featuring 30 selected computer-drawn masterpieces, transforming the space into a Japanese restaurant. Just looking at the menu makes one’s mouth water!

One side of the venue is decorated with Japanese-style menu boards, featuring highly realistic food images and prices. Just like a regular restaurant, a variety of delicious dishes are served to customers throughout the day, whether they prefer sashimi rice bowls, ramen, yakitori, or exquisite desserts. With a careful look, the audience will notice the adorable raccoon behind the pictures, which is actually the embodiment of Maomomiji. The raccoon’s happy expression while enjoying food adds to the deliciousness of the dishes.

If you want to discover more delicious food, you can follow the footsteps of the little raccoon on the “Food Map”. From Harajuku, Ueno to Ikebukuro, viewers can see a variety of food recommendations, including popular strawberry pancakes, exquisite sushi, hearty full breakfast, octopus takoyaki, and a soulful bowl of ramen, making you feel like you are really street food hunting in Japan. After selecting the food, viewers can head to the “Dining Area” to enjoy the food.

Maomomiji has always loved to eat, and every time he sees shiny, soft food, it makes him excited. Since 2019, he has been uploading different food illustrations on Instagram, using drawings to connect food lovers around the world. This time, he specially created a series of food menus for Hong Kong’s first solo exhibition, preparing a delicious visual feast for the audience and successfully creating a 2D food world.

In addition to visible delicacies, Maomomiji also offers canvas bags, stickers, food illustration books, and other products printed with food, allowing you to take away all kinds of delicious dishes. The exhibition evokes the joy and satisfaction that food brings us, so all food lovers must not miss it!
