teamLab has created numerous magnificent light and shadow events in the past, receiving countless praises. The interactive installations presented by their artistic creative team are often must-visit spots! Located in Tokyo, teamLab Planets has opened a new art exhibition area this month, showcasing two interactive garden pieces. With 13,000 live orchids blooming in the air, the space transforms into a beautiful world of flowers!

Currently, there are 9 artworks in the museum, including 4 larger art spaces and two gardens, namely the newly added Orchid Garden and Moss Garden. Both spaces provide interactive experiences for visitors. Upon entering the Orchid Garden, over ten thousand vibrant orchids sway and bloom in the air, with flowers suspended above and moving up and down with the installation. The flowers float above, exuding a unique vitality! Because the flowers in this artwork are all fresh, they will display different blooming postures over time.

In the space of the “Floating Garden,” people carefully appreciate the flowers, while the moving orchids also observe the people. The design concept of the work embodies the Zen meaning of the unity of heaven and man. When the space is left with only people and flowers, the two become one, coexisting and growing together, allowing the audience to contemplate the subtle relationship between humans and nature in such a beautiful space. With up to 30,000 species of orchids, they surpass other plants. Different species of orchids are intentionally placed in the art space to bring a more diverse visual effect. The intensity of the scents of different orchid species will also change over time, so each visit will bring a different sensory experience.

Enter the moss garden, where the ground is covered with oval shapes. When visitors gently push them, the oval shapes may emit light or play a resonant melody. The ever-changing oval shapes can display up to 61 color effects, as their appearance reflects the light of the surrounding environment. When the light and shadow installations in the space depict a blue sky with white clouds, the oval shapes will reflect the daylight in the same way. At sunset, they will emit colorful light on their own. Audiences can touch the oval shapes, and they will respond to you by emitting sound!

TeamLab’s creations always become a hot topic among the public. In addition to the moss garden, this time they have made a major breakthrough beyond light and shadow. I believe that this romantic “floating garden” made of fresh flowers will definitely cause another trend!
