Louis Vuitton has collaborated with many famous artists, and the brand recently brought a commemorative exhibition called “LOUIS VUITTON &” to Shibuya, Tokyo, allowing fashion enthusiasts to revisit the collaborative works over the years all at once!
Before entering the exhibition hall, I was already attracted by the uniquely designed exterior walls, with the words “LOUIS VUITTON&” shining like neon lights, very eye-catching! Inside the venue, it is divided into 10 display areas, while also showcasing the multimedia work “Critical point” created by Japanese artist Ryoji Ikeda, bringing an immersive art experience.
Within the exhibition, you can find LV classic luggage from the early 20th century, silk scarves with ginkgo leaf patterns designed by French visual artist Jean-Pierre Raynaud, and handbags featuring designs by Cindy Sherman, Frank Gehry, Yayoi Kusama’s iconic polka dots, and Takashi Murakami’s comic characters. The highlight is the “Bag with Holes” designed by Rei Kawakubo, and the exhibition design uniquely echoes this “holey bag,” allowing fashion enthusiasts to step into the bag and appreciate every fashion detail!
In addition, the Artycapucines series handbags created by multiple artists are also on display, including Beatriz Milhazes’ colorful designs, Jean-Michel Othoniel’s grass-woven bag with black silk edging, and more. Apart from fashionable items, you can also appreciate Louis Vuitton’s furniture collection created in collaboration with artists, such as the Surface Lamp designed by nendo, and the Blossom Stool by Tokujin Yoshioka. It is definitely a rich artistic feast!
