IG influencer SurrealHK holds his first solo exhibition, taking everyone on a journey through the surreal Hong Kong.

A series of leaning skyscrapers, taxis transformed into sports cars, and a giant panda lifting up the International Commerce Centre… These whimsical photos are the handiwork of Tommy Fung, also known as SurrealHK. Over the past 3 years, his creations on IG have garnered much attention, with everyone being drawn to his surreal artistic style. Recently, he even held his first solo exhibition “My Surreal Life in Hong Kong”, showcasing 18 pieces rich in Hong Kong characteristics and creativity, sharing his “surreal” life experiences in Hong Kong.

Tommy is a photographer and graphic designer himself, returned to Hong Kong from Venezuela in 2016, and began to document the unique Hong Kong with photography the following year. His photography style is vibrant and bright, filled with rich colors; in addition, he also processes these photos with Photoshop, adding fun to them, but also combining social issues and current events elements, telling the various problems existing in Hong Kong in a humorous way, satirizing the absurd reality of this city, allowing every Hong Kong person to reflect after appreciating his work.

The theme of this “My Surreal Life in Hong Kong” exhibition mainly revolves around Hong Kong’s most pressing housing issues, focusing on public housing, including Choi Hung Estate and Wah Fu Estate. It uses a realistic yet abstract presentation to provoke the public to think about issues such as the imbalance of land supply and demand in Hong Kong, unequal housing distribution, and cramped living environments, and even to further analyze feasible solutions.

In addition to being able to appreciate the works of SurrealHK, this exhibition will also collaborate with the premium art paper brand “Take-A-Lap” to launch 100 limited edition Art Prints, which will be personally signed by SurrealHK. If you consider yourself a fan, you must go and try your luck!
