“Magic City” Shanghai is one of the busy metropolises, and to cope with the huge floating population, the requirements for the transportation network are also extremely high. Recently, the locals called Line 14 Yuyuan Station the “transfer king” and it has been redesigned with the latest design. The ceiling is crafted into a wave-like streamlined shape, with advanced sci-fi lighting, and the super beautiful design has received a lot of praise!
Yuyuan Station is located in the core area of Shanghai, adjacent to City God Temple and the Bund, with a large number of people on weekdays and holidays. In order to provide passengers with a better riding experience, the Shanghai Metro invited the Xingzhi Architectural Design Firm to redesign Yuyuan Station. The designer created a wave-like curve on the ceiling to symbolize the Huangpu River. These “waves” extend from the ceiling to the columns, creating a rhythmic pulse and a smoother visual effect.
These curves may seem irregular, but they are actually designed to mimic the shape of the eaves of the City God Temple, continuously adjusting to find the most suitable curvature, creating a “reflection of the eaves in the water” effect. Walking through it, each curve is unique, creating two styles of “Western arches” and “Eastern eaves”, making the overall space explode with artistic flair!
And the most eye-catching thing is definitely the flowing light and shadow lines inside the curved surface, presenting various colorful light effects, like layers of surging water waves, majestic and dreamy. In addition to the preset basic effects, it can also be combined with different holiday events in the future to present different light colors.
The ceiling is filled with colorful waves, injecting a brilliant soul into the subway. Besides being a transportation hub, I believe it will attract many people to come and take photos in the future!
