As a fashion icon in the British royal family, Princess Diana embodies elegance and gentle royal style, yet also occasionally showcases her bold and fashionable taste. Recently, the top Hollywood auction house Julien’s Auctions announced that they will be holding an exclusive auction “Elegant Classics: Princess Diana and Royal Collections” this summer. Prior to the auction, they will first showcase a series of featured items in Asia and Europe, allowing the public to witness Princess Diana’s world-renowned fashion in Hong Kong.
This is the largest Diana, Princess of Wales collection auction since the historic sale in 1997, featuring her most famous and highly exposed evening gowns, suits, shoes, handbags, and accessories.
1. Murray Arbeid’s midnight blue strapless chiffon gown with a tight bustier design and diamond star pattern
(estimated at $200,000-400,000 USD)

2. Burgundy Silk Lace Evening Gown

This off-the-shoulder gown with lace-trimmed sleeves and three tiers of lace ruffles was designed by Victor Edelstein, reminiscent of the flamenco dresses of Spain.
Diana wore it in London and Hamburg in 1987. Edelstein first saw Diana when she was pregnant with Prince William. So, he later designed for her the iconic blue velvet gown she wore while dancing with John Travolta at the White House.

3. Pink Floral Print Jumpsuit

Designer Catherine Walker was also one of Princess Diana’s close collaborators, having created many looks for her and establishing a unique style for her. This piece is from Walker’s clothing brand, The Chelsea Design Company.
In 1991, Diana was photographed wearing this jumpsuit when she left St. Mary’s Hospital in London; then, in 1992, she was once again seen wearing the same dress when she left Harry’s school in Notting Hill.
