Recently, besides different texts on the streets, many colors have been added as well. Have you noticed those artworks on the streets when walking around? In response to Hong Kong Arts Month, the city is filled with an artistic atmosphere, including the streets. HKWALLS, a non-profit organization that has always focused on street art and culture, provides opportunities for local and international artists to showcase their talents in Hong Kong and on the international stage. This year, the 9th Street Art Festival invited numerous artists from overseas, mainland China, and locally to add colors to the streets!
From March 23 to 31, HKwalls brought a unique street art and cultural experience to the public in Central and Western District, Wan Chai, Tsim Sha Tsui, and along Victoria Harbour. This included a series of arts and cultural activities, exhibitions, street art from various artists, and even on-the-spot creation of large murals, injecting vitality and interest into the urban landscape.

Among many artists, there are several famous street artists from overseas: the Irish artist Aches (@achesdub), known for his pixelated portraits and visual illusions with striking colors; the German artist Hera (@hera_herakut), who tells stories in different urban spaces with delicate strokes full of humanity, creating adorable works featuring children and animals; the Belgian artist Jaune (@jaune_art), whose humorous and satirical works feature sanitation workers as the main characters; as well as Michal Škapa from the Czech Republic, also known as Tron (@traun834), Alice Pasquini from Italy (@alicepasquini), Uno from Italy (@idontcareaboutuno), and Rabi (@rabi__towing). Locally, artists such as Nut (@nut.chi), known for their blue-and-white porcelain style that reinterprets traditional Chinese culture in a modern way, Vance (@vance_dna) with a unique style, Satr (@satrxx) and Shaw Daan (@shawdaandaan), who love painting tigers and other animals in a traditional ink painting style, are invited to participate. Of course, local artists like Fever (@imfeverrc), the Finnish artist residing in Hong Kong Riitta Kuisma (@riittakuisma), and Reana Bachiller of Filipino descent (@b4bytoof) are also included.
And HKwalls, together with local cultural tour group Wanderlust Walks, have organized multiple guided tours for the public to explore street art in depth; they also host a series of fascinating discussions, bringing together artists and curators from all over the world to exchange ideas and uphold the spirit of unlimited art.
Finally, there is the “Chromaflux Flowing Light and Shadow” new media art exhibition. This time, we invited five groups of overseas and local artists to showcase works that blend colors, dynamic visual effects, and innovative digital art. The exhibition regularly takes place on the Art Wall of Light and Shadow at The Center in Tsim Sha Tsui and Empire Centre. It not only adds charm to Victoria Harbour but also allows the public to create together or exchange ideas, witness the birth of works, explore a different urban scenery, and feel the artistic atmosphere.
During your free time, why not embark on a city deep exploration full of surprises everywhere!
