“Flower Parent and Child”
A gigantic 13-meter-tall sculpture, “Flower Parent and Child,” stands in a beautiful garden surrounded by mountains in Kyoto. Whether viewed from the front, back, or sides, the sculpture presents different faces and continues to display changes according to the seasons and day and night. It is said that Takashi Murakami’s inspiration comes from the Japanese family crest Louis Vuitton Monogram and the ultra-flat sculptures of traditional Japanese aesthetics.
The inspiration for the luggage in the work comes from the Monogram Multicolor luggage launched by Takashi Murakami and Louis Vuitton in 2003, and presents details such as canvas, metal components, and wooden parts.
