by

Complex announced today that Verdy will serve as the inaugural Artistic Director of ComplexCon Hong Kong, the first ComplexCon event to be held outside of the United States. Verdy is the founder of the streetwear brands Wasted Youth and Girls Don’t Cry, and last year served as the Artistic Director for BLACKPINK’s “Born Pink World Tour” world concert tour, as well as becoming a resident artist at the Coachella music festival.

Verdy, who is only 36 years old, served as the artistic director for ComplexCon in Long Beach, California as early as 2022. This new role allows him to bring his vision for trend culture to ComplexCon Hong Kong, including selecting emerging trend brands to participate in the expo, creating unique expo experiences, and designing official limited edition merchandise.

Verdy first made a name for himself in Hong Kong as early as 2019, co-hosting a week-long “MEET VERDY Gallery” exhibition with AllRightsReserved, showcasing his artistic values for the first time in the city. He displayed his iconic cartoon character, Vick, a mix of a rabbit and a panda, symbolizing positivity and longevity, in line with his artistic beliefs. Last year, Verdy collaborated with Paris Saint-Germain to design limited edition jerseys, with Messi wearing one of Verdy’s designs becoming a hot topic at the time. Recently, Verdy partnered with KENZO to launch the KENZO X VERDY clothing collection, further confirming his impact and contribution to the fashion scene in Hong Kong. ComplexCon Hong Kong will land at the AsiaWorld-Expo from March 22 to 24, 2024, kicking off “Hong Kong Art Month” and serving as a platform for global artists and trendsetters to gather.
