The British National Gallery, established in 1824, houses over 2,600 masterpieces of European paintings and is one of the most popular art museums in the world. Recently, the Hong Kong Palace Museum announced a collaboration with them to host a special exhibition titled “From Botticelli to Van Gogh: Treasures from the British National Gallery,” showcasing a total of 52 art masterpieces from the 15th to the early 20th century.
The exhibition spans over 400 years of Western art history, showcasing 52 world-class masterpieces created by 50 influential art masters throughout history. These painting masters include Botticelli, Raphael, Titian, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Goya, Turner, Constable, Monet, and Van Gogh. The exhibited iconic works cover important turning points in art history such as the Renaissance, Impressionism, and Post-Impressionism periods.

The first 8 classic masterpieces to be showcased include Vincent van Gogh’s “Field with Butterflies” (1890), Botticelli’s “The Three Miracles of St. Zenobius” (circa 1500), and Raphael’s “The Madonna and Child with the Infant St. John” (The Garvagh Madonna) (circa 1510-1511), among others.
