Recently, there has been a trend of “Kowloon King Emperor” Tsang Tsao-Choi in the city. In addition to a gallery holding a large solo exhibition, it was also showcased at the art event Art Basel. Musician and renowned street art pioneer MC Yan also launched an art exhibition called “Kowloon Emperor Phenomenon,” making a big splash in the art scene.
However, one surprise after another, Hong Kong’s first metaverse experiential creation company recognized and appointed by The Sandbox, INDEX GAME, will collaborate with Mr. Chung Yin Chi (Willie), founder of Art and Culture Trust Co., Ltd., to jointly construct The Sandbox’s “Time Gate” with the theme of the Kowloon Emperor, pushing the cultural and artistic heritage of this legendary street art figure into the metaverse!
“The Time Gate” will present Hong Kong street scenes, faithfully reproducing the street art of Kowloon Emperor, allowing users to embark on treasure hunt missions, and to discover more of Kowloon Emperor’s ink treasures. Upon completing the treasure hunt missions, users can earn different NFTs through “Play-to-earn.” The Hong Kong street scenes in “The Time Gate” will also showcase street graffiti or art pieces by various local Hong Kong artists, using the metaverse world stage to demonstrate the diversity and strength of Hong Kong’s local art culture.
In addition to the Hong Kong street scene, the “Time Gate” will also feature three projects, namely the “NFT Art Museum,” the “Chinese Character Cosmic Academy,” and “Uncle Choi’s Storytelling Playground.” The “NFT Art Museum” will have different exhibition halls, including a permanent exhibition hall led by the Emperor of Kowloon, as well as other exhibition halls for artists from around the world to hold exhibitions. The “Chinese Character Cosmic Academy” will allow users to systematically learn Chinese characters and their stories and meanings through the text works and fonts of the Emperor of Kowloon in a game-like manner.
The third item of “Time Gate”, “Uncle Choi’s Storytelling Playground”, is inspired by storytelling under the banyan tree, using the ink treasures of the Nine Dragon Emperor to narrate the history and humanities of the colonial period in Hong Kong, extending to traditional Chinese arts, culture, customs, classic mythological stories, etc. Users in the Time Gate metaverse space can not only learn about Hong Kong’s historical stories and Chinese characters, but also obtain limited NFTs through mission challenges, realizing “Play-to-learn” and “Learn-to-earn”.
Mr. Chung Yin Chai (Willie) was a close friend of the late Tsang Tsou Choi and is currently the world’s largest collector of Kowloon Emperor authentic works. Over the past decade, Willie has organized multiple Kowloon Emperor-themed exhibitions and publications, dedicating himself to researching and exploring the historical context behind Tsang Tsou Choi’s works and the significance of his written texts. He believes that through this project, he can bring over a hundred authentic Kowloon Emperor works to life through three-dimensional modeling, creating NFTs through secondary creation, undoubtedly allowing Tsang Tsou Choi’s cultural heritage to be passed down in the metaverse in the form of NFTs and digital formats.
