Sotheby’s Hong Kong will soon present the first online contemporary art auction of 2022, featuring works by highly sought-after artists and a selection of over 20 female artists, making for a diverse lineup. In addition, this online auction will also feature the currently popular NFT artworks, catering to the preferences of different collectors. Here are some selected lots for everyone:
Auction brings works of popular artists in the art world, including Aboudia, Baldur Helgason, Damien Hirst, Edgar Plans, Michael Kagan, Gerhard Richter, Mr Doodle, and George Condo.
In the past, in male-dominated art circles, the influence of female artists’ works often did not match that of male artists. However, as we progress into the 21st century, their outstanding creations are also attracting attention in the art world, standing shoulder to shoulder with male artists. Coinciding with the auction on March 8th, International Women’s Day, Sotheby’s has deliberately selected a series of influential female artists’ works that are currently making waves in the art world, such as Yayoi Kusama, Lee Bul, and Chiharu Shiota.
In terms of representing young newcomers, there are also Stickymonger, Super Future Kid, and Zhang Yuewei.
This event is also the first online auction of NFT artworks in contemporary art in Hong Kong. In addition to the NFT series “People In The Place They Love” by Japanese artist Yusuke Hanai, there is also the NFT series “Monkey Kingdom” inspired by the trendy symbol of Sun Wukong, the Monkey King. If you are interested in exploring digital art and the metaverse, why not take advantage of this opportunity to get started!
