Picasso’s original portrait of his lover is being unveiled for the first time and will be up for auction!

Sotheby’s London will soon auction off a previously unreleased Picasso original painting! This little-known artwork, titled “Femme endormie,” was drawn by Picasso himself in 1931 using charcoal of his lover at the time, Marie-Thérèse Walter.

Marie-Thérèse Walter was one of Picasso’s longest companions among his many lovers. The two met in 1927 when Picasso was attracted to Marie-Thérèse Walter in the window of the Parisian department store, Le Bon Marché, and pursued her passionately. She inspired Picasso’s drawings and sculptures, with over a hundred works created based on her. In this painting, “Femme endormie,” you can also feel the intimacy between the two in the gentle and delicate strokes and lines.

This never-before publicly exhibited “Femme endormie” is also making its first appearance at an auction, estimated to be worth between 7 to 12 million dollars!
