Give antiques new life! RIMOWA and contemporary artist Daniel Arsham reinterpret classic luggage in sculptural form.

by

The renowned luggage brand RIMOWA collaborates with contemporary artist Daniel Arsham to create sculptural works based on the Classic Attaché suitcase from the RIMOWA Archive collection, reinterpreting this classic piece in an artistic way.

Daniel Arsham takes his “Future Relic” series as a blueprint, then uses the RIMOWA Classic Attaché suitcase as inspiration to create the “eroded suitcase,” resembling remnants unearthed from an archaeological site and broken artifacts, aiming to convey the message that new technology quickly becomes outdated. Daniel also includes gloves used in the creation of sculptures and artworks in the suitcase, resembling archaeological artifacts stored in an archive.

This masterpiece was exhibited at the Frieze Art Fair in New York on May 2nd, and will be available for online auction from May 2nd to 13th. It comes with a signed copy of the artwork, a personal letter from Daniel Arsham, and special edition luggage stickers designed by RIMOWA and Daniel. The limited edition sculpture will be available for purchase at selected RIMOWA stores starting from May 17th, priced at HK$16,700.
