After three years, Gucci officially returns to the official schedule of Milan Men’s Fashion Week. This is also the first Gucci fashion show after former creative director Alessandro Michele officially stepped down. The 2023 autumn/winter men’s collection no longer has the “Alessandro Michele style” of extravagance, but instead features a long-awaited minimalist design, with most designs derived from the archives and becoming styles that ordinary people can easily handle.
Gucci 2023 Autumn/Winter menswear is designed by Alessandro Michele’s close design team, with a minimalist style reminiscent of a classic gentleman’s wardrobe, but infused with many improvisational and subversive techniques. The first look is a clean white tee paired with khaki suit pants, illustrating the brand’s determination to create something different from the past.
The collection draws inspiration from the archives, with a significant portion of the designs clearly influenced by the Tom Ford and Frida Giannini eras, such as the iconic tubular spring lock closure and daringly sexy designs originally created by Tom Ford for Gucci. The soft tones and elegant yet sharp atmosphere also evoke memories of the Frida Giannini era.
On the bridge, the era of Alessandro Michele’s floral embroidery and animal prints is gone, replaced by vibrant and lively colors, denim patches, and elements such as beads, which are applied to various items. Some designs reflect the concept of “improvisation,” such as trousers transforming into floor-length skirts, and jackets that can be easily dismantled into vests, allowing the wearer to express their own attitude through reinterpreted construction.
