上月 Porsche 首次发布了新车在纽博灵进行测试的片段，结果，全新登场的 718 Cayman GT4 RS 在全长 20.6 公里的赛道上刷出了 7:04.511 的圈速，比 718 Cayman GT4 快了整整 23.6 秒，数据相当惊人。厂方同时也宣布，新车将于 11 月底亮相，终于，这款来自 718 系列的首款 RS 级别新车，在日前正式亮相。
由 Porsche 保时捷 GT 支线总监 Andreas Preuniger 亲自监督的 718 GT4 RS，是车系全新的旗舰型车款，从轻量化的车身结构、极其灵活的底盘设置，到重新精密运算的空气动力学设计及独特的引擎爆发，均进行了全面升级。
首先介绍引擎方面，718 GT4 RS 取源于车厂代表作 911 GT3 赛车及 911 GT3 系列的量产车型，搭载了俗称为「平六」的水平对置 N.A.（自然吸气）六缸引擎，马力输出为 500 匹，比常规的 GT4 多出 80 匹，亦仅少于 911 GT3 约 10 匹；马力重量比为 2.83 kg/PS，最大扭力从 430 Nm 提升到 450 Nm；由 0 加速至 100km/h 仅需 3.4 秒、极速达至 315 km/h，其引擎转速红区高达 9,000 转，以该车系来说可谓相当惊人。
与所有现代 RS 车型相同，全新的 718 GT4 RS 专属搭载 Porsche 的 PDK 七速变速箱，运动化低齿轮比 PDK 双离合自手排变速系统，为这款中置引擎跑车打造无与伦比的加速体验。除了其撥片换档操作外，车主也可以自行选择使用位于中控台、全新设计的「波棍」。
正如上文所提到的，新车在全长20.6公里的赛道上刷出了7:04.511的圈速，比GT4快了整整超过23秒，这主要归功于718 Cayman GT4仅有1,415kg的轻巧车身重量。延续经典的RS风格，轻量化车身结构是定义全新718 Cayman GT4 RS的重要元素。按照DIN标准规范，新车加满油箱后比718 GT4在相同情况下轻了35kg。这种轻量化设计得益于其采用大量碳纤维材料制作的轻量化CFRP前盖和前扰流翼等部件，内部还采用了轻量化地毯、减少隔热材料，以及轻量化玻璃车窗、纺织布料的车门拉环和置物网等，使718 GT4 RS在减重方面达到了极致。
在外观设计方面，保时捷对718 GT4 RS进行了无数升级。除了上述的轻量化部分外，车厂还为718 GT4 RS增加了许多外观升级。

This highly efficient side wing design originates from the 911 RSR GT race car and is applied for the first time in the 911 GT3 series production cars. This time, it is equipped on the 718 GT4 RS body with a driving height 30mm lower, along with the heat exhaust vents on the front wheel arches, the body bottom plate, adjustable front diffuser, rear lower spoiler, and the newly designed surrounding side fins front diffuser, etc., instantly increasing the downforce of the 718 GT4 RS by about 25%. Moreover, the ball joints tightly secure its chassis to the body, combined with an adjustable setting integrating electronic circuit chassis, equipped with RS series exclusive shock absorber tuning, improved springs, and reinforced anti-roll bars, creating a more precise and direct driving experience.
In addition, the team has also added many details to enhance performance, such as the new intake design that effectively helps with engine cooling. The manufacturer mentioned that the intake sound can emit a loud roar next to the ear, allowing the driver to directly experience a different sound enjoyment.
作为 GT4 及 RS 车系的代表作，Porsche 当然也为车主提供顶级的 Weissach 套件选项。前盖、空气进气格栅、冷却进气格栅、引擎外罩、外侧后视镜上方饰板和尾翼等，均可选择碳纤维细节装饰；其近似于 Porsche 935 的排气管、车身后方的防滚笼等，也可转为钛合金材质；原装的铝合金轮圈，在 Weissach 套件下可搭配 20 寸镁合金轮圈；还有，仪表板上方可采用真皮内饰搭配 Race-Tex 材质制成，再饰上大型 Porsche 字样。除了大量的碳纤维细节、碳合金材质强化，车主也可为车身配色进行个性化定制。
