Vibrant color application, sharp silhouette cutting, and eye-catching printed patterns have always been familiar elements of Marni’s DNA. The latest 2023 spring/summer collection continues to showcase color charm through design, with simple yet bold graphics running through, presenting the brand’s unique fashion aesthetics.
The new collection focuses on simplicity in color and pattern compared to previous seasons, centering around the phrase “every sunset is a sunrise.” The sunset twilight scene has become the main theme of this season, with Creative Director Francesco Risso drawing inspiration from the constantly changing light in the Italian countryside throughout the day, as observed during his vacation in his hometown. The forefront features a series of sunset hues, warm reds, oranges, yellows, followed by cool tones of blues, purples, whites, with concentric circles running through the collection, becoming a key pattern.
Francesco Risso describes the body as the protagonist of this collection, with sportswear and knitwear designed to complement the body and provide a comfortable wearing experience. The collection features square-shouldered coats and tailored jackets made of soft leather in different shades; dreamy velvet flared jeans; sheer ribbed knit sweaters that hug the body’s contours, with some “sleeves” hanging from the waist or cuffs, hinting at a gender-neutral clothing aesthetic. The concentric circles on jumpsuits, mini skirts, and cropped tops present a chic and abstract sunrise, perfectly echoing the meaning of “where there is a sunset, there is also a sunrise.”
