Recently reported, Mercedes Benz’s proactive attitude has become more prominent in recent years. Following the announcement of the latest AMG version EQE today in Central European Time, there is news that another popular model – G-Class – is on the verge of releasing its new generation.
According to foreign media Carscoops, the upcoming all-new G-Class will be a 4×4² model, greatly enhancing its off-road capabilities. From the photos, the latest prototype painted in a rare blue color is based on the G63 model design, but with details such as wider fender flares, roof rack, bull bar, and a rear-mounted spare tire carrier. Moreover, upon closer inspection, you will notice that even the G63-exclusive tires are fully wrapped in off-road rubber, showcasing its exclusive off-road stance.
Although the new car has been exposed, Mercedes-Benz still maintains secrecy about the details. Based on the specifications of the G500 4 × 4² that debuted in 2015, the 4 × 4² model at that time was equipped with three locking differentials, 22” tires, and an eccentric shaft, and it also had a ground clearance of 17.7” (450 mm) and a water fording depth of up to 39.3”. Therefore, it is almost certain that the upcoming version will be more aggressive than the above. In addition, reports also indicate that the new car will be equipped with a twin-turbocharged 4.0L V8 engine, outputting 577 horsepower and 849 Nm of torque, but its speed will be limited by more off-road equipment in appearance, and its performance of 0-96 km/h in 4.5 seconds is slightly inferior to the standard G63 version.
However, there are reports that the all-new 4 × 4² will not be a cheap model, with the 4 × 4² priced at 231,693 euros (including 19% VAT). Unfortunately, it was discontinued two years later, in the fall of 2017. Therefore, this time Mercedes-Benz is reintroducing it, and it is believed that it will definitely create another buzz.
As for the launch time of the new car, there is currently no official news. However, what is even more unexpected is that Mercedes-Benz will soon bring another facelifted version of the G-Class, so all G-Class fans should pay close attention.
