Norwegian stitching craftsmanship made its debut in the FW21 collection in April this year. The distinctive craftsmanship of Norwegian stitching is a white needle-thread weaving technique that is completed purely by hand and applied to traditional shoe making. Not only does it effectively protect the shoe uppers and edges from extreme weather conditions, but it also embellishes the details of various clothing accessories, perfectly showcasing Berluti’s superb craftsmanship and shoemaking ingenuity.

The Berluti creative team drew inspiration from the distinctive silhouette of the Ultima Oxford shoe – a new design created by Olga Berluti in 2001 that combines the brand’s heritage with innovative modern style rubber thick soles. The bold round shoe opening sits on top of a square toe last, providing a comfortable wearing experience for daily wear. The shoe upper is made of Venezia leather, dyed with the brand’s most classic caramel brown color using the Patina dyeing technique, and accented with norvégienne stitching for the finishing touch.

Norwegian sewing techniques combine decorative and functional elements, applied to bags to showcase Berluti’s exceptional craftsmanship. The FW21 collection introduces two new bags, named after the Norwegian town of Narvik, paying tribute to this skill with the ultra-soft Tote Bag, available only through special customization. In addition, several classic brand designs such as Un Jour, Toujours, and Nino have been revamped, adorned with norwegian hand-sewn details, echoing the iconic Venezia leather.

A selection of coats and suits, all using the Norwegian stitching technique to highlight the silhouette, embodying Berluti’s excellent craftsmanship. The checkered long coat and short jacket both feature leather decorations sewn with this technique on the shoulder seams; another leather jacket also incorporates this detail, elegantly embellished with matching or contrasting color details; the down jacket stands out with its unique bright stitches on the seams.
