Hong Kongers’ favorite travel hotspots: the latest entry requirements at a glance!

Counting on my fingers, it has been over two and a half years since my last trip! However, with many countries gradually reopening, as long as we manage our time well and prepare properly, traveling again is no longer an impossible task! So, what are the entry restrictions and conditions for traveling to different countries? Let’s find out now!

South Korea

Holders of Hong Kong SAR passports or BNOs can enter without a visa, but travelers must apply for K-ETA and receive approval 72 hours before departure, at a cost of 10,000 Korean won per person. Upon entry, a negative test result within 48 hours before departure must be presented, and testing is required upon arrival. Additionally, regardless of vaccination status, travelers do not need to undergo quarantine upon entry.

Thailand

Hong Kong travelers entering Thailand do not need to apply for the “Quarantine-Free Entry Thailand Pass” (TEST & GO Thailand Pass) and can travel freely in Thailand. Those who have received two doses or more of the vaccine do not need to quarantine or undergo testing, while travelers who have not been vaccinated must provide proof of a negative test taken within 72 hours before boarding and must quarantine for 5 days.

Japan

The Japanese government divides regions into “blue,” “yellow,” and “red” based on infection rates, with Hong Kong classified as “blue.” Travelers, regardless of whether they have received 3 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, can enter without quarantine or isolation, but must provide proof of a negative test within 72 hours before entry. Currently, Japan allows travelers to visit tourist attractions and designated local sightseeing spots in the form of small tour groups.

Singapore

Travelers who have been vaccinated and children under 12 years of age do not need to undergo testing or quarantine upon entry, and they are also exempt from applying for the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL). They only need to provide proof of a negative test taken within 48 hours before departure.

United Kingdom

Those who have completed vaccination 14 days before departure do not need to undergo testing and quarantine upon entry, while those who have not been vaccinated must undergo testing on the 2nd and 8th days, without the need for quarantine.

United States

For those who have completed vaccination 14 days or more before departure, they can enter without quarantine, while those who have not been vaccinated cannot enter.

Australia

In addition, individuals returning to Hong Kong from overseas must complete vaccination, provide proof of a negative test within 48 hours before departure, and provide proof of booking a designated quarantine hotel for 7 days upon return to Hong Kong.
