Prince’s Little Shop’s popular taro pastry/peanut pastry! Old-fashioned cake/molten cheese/green tea mochi pulled silk.

This seemingly inconspicuous small shop, “Grandma’s Handmade Freshly Baked Cakes,” often has a crowd outside, especially when the old-fashioned cakes are freshly baked. Take a closer look at the cake menu and you’ll find that there are actually 17 flavors!

Every day, 4 to 5 randomly selected cakes are freshly baked. Each cake is made with about 90 eggs, without any baking powder or yeast, resulting in a rich and soft texture with a strong egg flavor. A large plate of cake is divided into 12 portions (each portion costs $50-$80), and each portion is enough to be cut into 6 to 7 pieces when taken home. The flavor of the day includes “Extra Creamy Cheese” ($70 per portion), which not only has cheese sprinkled on the surface, but also has a smooth and creamy cheese layer in the middle, with a stringy effect when pulled apart.

There is also “Mong Cha Cha” ($80 per serving), which is actually a green tea-flavored cake filled with black sugar mochi. The texture of the mochi is extremely soft and smooth. Other interesting flavors include pineapple, caramel milk tea, golden egg spinach, and coconut pandan. The cakes are baked daily from around 10:30 in the morning until 7:30 in the evening, so it depends on luck to get the flavor you want.

Another popular product in this series is the taro pastry ($18/piece). The boss insists on using Taiwanese ingredients, including taro and mochi, to ensure freshness. The taro pastry comes with fillings such as mochi or egg yolk, and each piece is individually packaged for convenience.

And what regular customers must buy is peanut pastry. The homemade peanut filling, with a crispy and flaky outer layer, is fragrant and sweet with every bite. It is always sold out during the Chinese New Year season.
