KACHIMUSHI

This Café KACHIMUSHI in Kam Tin always has long queues on holidays because of its unique indoor tatami design and outdoor garden view, which is rare for a café in Hong Kong. Despite its relatively remote location, it still attracts customers.

KACHIMUSHI

KACHIMUSHI is located on the main road of Kam Tin, right next to Kam Tin Road. It is diagonally opposite the Kam Tin Post Office, a two-story white house with wooden window frames on the glass doors and windows. The benches in front of the door are filled with waiting customers. When you enter the store and walk through the corridor to the end, it feels like you have entered Japan.

Tatami seats, wooden furniture, and a glass door that overlooks a stone-filled, Japanese garden decorated backyard. Guests can freely enter the indoor area to take photos or rest for a while. The atmosphere is particularly peaceful and leisurely. However, please note that food and drinks are not allowed to be taken outside.

And this café also has unique food, including cheese dishes that are rarely found in Hong Kong cafés, such as “Grilled Brie Cheese with Toast” ($68). The Brie cheese is baked until it becomes soft and gooey, and it is served with a cheese knife to scoop up the cheese. It is hot and spicy, with a smooth and creamy texture when eaten with toast. There is also a cheese platter available, which includes 3 types of cheese, cured ham, and accompaniments.

Dessert lovers must try the Basque cheesecake, with different styles available daily. The tofu cheesecake is unique, with a light and smooth texture that is not as heavy as the original flavor. The signature dish at Café is the Dutch Baby Pancake ($78), which comes in flavors such as fig, lemon custard sauce, matcha, red bean, and yellow bean powder rice cake.
